Fulling Mill Launch New Pro GSP Thread

Today was a great post day! I’ve been using Fulling Mill’s brand-new Pro GSP (Gel Spun Thread) for a while, and I’m chuffed to see it finally hit the shelves, and my doormat in readiness for an upcoming tying demo at the prestigious Peacock Fly Fishing Club.

The Pro GSP comes in a range of deniers (30, 50, 100 and 150) and is perfect as an all-round tying thread, especially when extra strength is required – think deer hair, etc. As the 30D version is also crazy thin (but also crazy strong), it’s superb for tying smaller flies, and my size 24 patterns have attested to how well it performs. It binds down to nothing, almost disappearing, and even at 30D it retains its strength.

As an aside, over the years I’ve found that the die in some GSPs may come off onto your fingers when tying. It’s not the case with Fulling Mill’s. The Pro GSP can also be unspun to create a split thread for spikier bodies and thoraxes.

This has instantly become my go-to day-to-day thread. As I tie many flies in sizes 20 and smaller, the white colour is perfect because it often takes on the colour of the materials it’s tying down. When more colours are required, there’s the option of black, olive and tan.

The Pro GSP joins a selection of new products from Fulling Mill, including Pro Wire, Pro Brush Wire, Saddle Hackle, and their awesome new tying mats (see more at https://blog.fullingmill.com/new-arrivals-the-latest-fulling-mill-fly-tying-materials/), but for more detailed information on the Pro GSP, simply visit https://www.fullingmill.co.uk/Products-UK/Pro-GSP-UK.
